LAURIE WOLF, LENEXA KS 66220 Work Completed Date: June 16, 2010 Hire Again: Yes
Description Of Work: Midwest Radon gave us a quote to put a radon detector in the basement and also run a line from underneath the garage floor.
Member Comments: They are coming out on the 1st or 2nd July. We have had them out several different times. I just felt more comfortable with the information that they gave us. We like a lot of information and they volunteered that and it seemed to make more sense. They presented the information a little more clearly and completely than the others did. They were very responsive.

Don Reece, LENEXA KS 66220 Work Completed Date: February 18, 2010 Hire Again: Yes
Description Of Work: They installed a radon mitigation system which consisted of drilling into by basement floor and running a pipe into the attic. They installed a fan in the attic and vented the gas through the roof. They covered by sump pump hole.
Member Comments: The experience went well. I knew I had a radon problem by using a home kit. It was at 8.2 pc with the home test and when they were done it was .5. I took another home test after they installed the system and it confirmed the .5 reading.

SARAH CASANOVA, OLATHE KS 66062 Work Completed Date: September 10, 2009 Hire Again:Yes
Description Of Work: Our radon system was making a squealing noise, thought perhaps the fan needed oil or something of that nature. Called Midwest Radon to come take a look. Apparently a squirrel had fallen down the PVC vent tube and had gotten tangled in the fan and messed up the motor. Eek! The serviceman was very professional and handled the incident very well - with humor. The entire motor was replaced for $250 and works great. (He also disposed of the squirrel for us.)
Member Comments: Great. Showed up on time. Fixed the problem promptly. In and out in about 30 minutes.

Report Date: October 13, 2005 EMILY SEATON, KANSAS CITY MO 64111 Hire Again:Yes
Description Of Work: TESTED FOR RADON AND INSTALLED REDUCTION SYSTEM.
Member Comments: IN PURCHASING MY FIRST HOME, THE HOUSE WAS TESTED FOR RADON AND CAME BACK OVER 10. I WAS SKEPTICAL FOR THE REAL NEED FOR A REDUCTION SYSTEM BUT THE EPA LITERATURE CONVINCED ME THAT THE RISK OF LUNG CANCER WAS TOO HIGH. MIDWEST INSTALLED THE SYSTEM AND PIPED IT OUT THE SIDE OF THE HOUSE. I HAVE AN 1895 HOUSE AND WAS WORRIED THAT THE DRILLING WOULD HARM THE HOUSE OR BE TOO VISIBLE BUT YOU CAN'T SEE IT FROM THE FRONT OF THE HOUSE AT ALL. THE RETEST PUT THE RADON LEVEL AT 4.1 (4.0 IS EPA ACCEPTABLE) AND THOUGH THEY RECOMMENDED THAT I ALSO HAVE THE CRAWLSPACE IN THE BASEMENT PIPED OUT, I DECLINED. I WILL HAVE THEM RETEST IN A YEAR OR SO AND SEE WHERE IT IS.

Report Date: July 20, 2005 MIKE BURLINGAME, OVERLAND PARK KS 66212 Hire Again: Yes
Description Of Work: THE COMPANY INITIALLY DID A TEST IN TWO PLACES OVER THE CONCRETE SLAB, THE AVERAGE READING WAS TOO HIGH IN THE BASEMENT. WE THEN CONTRACTED FOR THEM TO INSTALL A FAN AND DUCT SYSTEM TO EXHAUST THE UNDER SLAB AIR TO ABOVE THE ROOF. THE SYSTEM COULD NOT GO IN AS ORIGINALLY ESTIMATED, BUT THEY MANAGED TO GET THE JOB DONE VIA A DIFFERENT ROUTE. RETESTING SHOWED THE RADON NOW BELOW THE EPA LIMIT.
Member Comments: THEY WERE PROMPT, COURTEOUS, AND KNOWLEDGEABLE. I THINK THEY COULD HAVE CLEANED UP AFTER THEMSELVES A LITTLE BETTER, BUT THIS WAS NOT A BIG PROBLEM.
